During a recent Coldplay concert at the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia, lead singer Chris Martin had an unexpected and amusing moment when he fell through an open trapdoor on stage. This incident happened during the band's final show in Melbourne, and it quickly became a highlight of the evening.
In a video shared on social media, Chris was seen interacting with the crowd and moving backward when he suddenly fell into the trap door. The audience gasped in surprise, and thankfully, another person who was already near the trapdoor reached out to help cushion Chris' fall.

After getting back on his feet, Chris humorously acknowledged the accident, saying into the microphone, "That wasn't planned. Thank you for catching me so much. Thank you guys, holy s***, that was a YouTube moment!" His light-hearted reaction helped ease any concerns from the fans, who cheered and laughed with him.
This wasn’t the first time a performer had a mishap on stage in Melbourne. Just a month earlier, singer Olivia Rodrigo also fell into a small opening while performing at the Rod Laver Arena.
Like Chris, she quickly reassured her fans, saying, “Oh my God! That was fun, I’m OK! Sometimes there is just a hole in the stage, OK… where was I?”

Coldplay is currently on their "Music of the Spheres World Tour," which began in March 2022. After the show in Melbourne, the band planned to head to Sydney to wrap up their Australian leg of the tour before traveling to New Zealand. In January, they will bring their tour to India, where they are set to perform three shows in Mumbai. The tour is scheduled to continue until September 2025, culminating in a 10-day run at London’s Wembley Stadium.
In a recent interview, Chris Martin discussed the band’s future plans and their approach to making music. He mentioned that Coldplay intends to release a total of 12 "proper albums," emphasizing the importance of setting limits on their creativity. He noted that they have already released 10 albums and are working on the upcoming one titled "Moon Music." Chris believes that having a specific number of albums helps maintain high-quality music, saying, "Less is more. And for some of our critics, even less would be even more." This philosophy is aimed at ensuring that each song they release meets a high standard.
Chris also drew comparisons to musical legends like The Beatles and Bob Marley, pointing out that they had a limited number of albums as well. He feels that this approach encourages the band to be selective about their music, making it more meaningful and impactful. With their ambitious plans and commitment to quality, Coldplay continues to capture the hearts of fans worldwide.
