The personality rights of actress Shilpa Shetty have now received legal protection. The Bombay High Court has ruled that her identity cannot be used without her consent. This law prohibits people and organizations from using her name and picture and voice and all other aspects of her identity for any illegal purpose.

The courts ruling is important because celebrity identities are often misused online.Technology enables others to impersonate Shilpa Shetty which leads to damage of her reputation. The internet currently allows users to create fake videos through image manipulation which enables them to distribute false content.

The Bombay High Court has established Shilpa Shetty's identity rights through its ruling that her identity requires her consent for any use. The court has restricted individuals and groups from using her name, image, voice or any part of her character in an deceptive manner. The decision show how celebs face increasing risks of identity theft through online platforms.

Public figures are often vulnerable to impersonation and reputational damage because technology makes it easy to manipulate photos create videos and spread misleading information online. People can create realistic video content using artificial intelligence which includes voice duplication technology. The media distribution of such content enables rapid alterations to public opinion.

The Bombay High Court has also mentioned that an individuals identity belongs to them and cannot be used freely by others. A person's name or image does not become property just because they are famous. The law preserves this right which requires permission for any use. Shilpa Shetty has achieved victory through this ruling according to her legal representative advocate Sana Raees Khan. The court has confirmed that deepfakes and digital impersonation constitute illegal activities.
