A viral video capturing Mumbai Police personnel inspecting a Zomato delivery bag outside the Juhu residence of filmmaker Rohit Shetty has surfaced on social media, drawing attention amid a late-night firing incident near his home. The footage shows officers opening and examining the delivery bag attached to a two-wheeler parked near the premises, before folding and removing it as part of ongoing evidence-gathering efforts.

The examination took place after multiple rounds of gunfire were reported outside Shetty’s residence in the early hours of Sunday, February 1, 2026. According to police officials, four to five shots were fired near the building in the upscale Juhu area of western Mumbai, prompting a swift response from the Mumbai Police and Crime Branch. No injuries have been reported so far.

In the aftermath, security around the property was significantly beefed up, with police cordoning off the area, erecting barricades, and deploying additional personnel to ensure safety and facilitate investigative work. Videos from the scene, including the one featuring the bag inspection, reflect the heightened level of police activity outside the director’s home.

Police teams — including forensic experts and ballistic units — were also seen collecting evidence and examining bullet shells scattered near the building. Officials are reportedly reviewing CCTV footage and speaking with residents to piece together how the incident unfolded. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under applicable sections of the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act as investigators continue to search for the perpetrators and determine a possible motive.

Authorities have not confirmed whether Shetty or his family were present inside the residence at the time, though some reports suggest the director was at home when the shots were fired. Investigators are also exploring whether the incident was a targeted threat or a random act of violence.

As the probe continues, police are urging anyone with information or relevant footage to come forward, with special teams formed to track down suspects and unravel the circumstances behind the firing.
