Bollywood and Indian music fans were left stunned on Friday night when singer Kailash Kher was forced to halt his live performance in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, after the audience became unruly and breached barricades, disrupting the show.

The incident occurred during a special event marking the 101st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, where Kailash Kher was invited to perform.

Initially, the crowd seemed to be enjoying Kailash Kher’s iconic songs, including hits like Teri Deewani, Saiyaan, and Piya Ghar Aavenge. However, things quickly took a dangerous turn when a large section of the audience began jumping over barricades and rushing towards the stage for a closer look at the singer. The situation escalated rapidly, making it difficult for the organisers and security personnel to maintain decorum.

Seeing the chaos unfold, the singer attempted to calm the crowd by directly appealing to them to maintain discipline. In a moment captured on video, the singer was heard saying, “Humne aapki prashansa ki aur aap itna janwargiri kar rahe hain. Janwargiri mat kariye please...” which translates to urging his fans not to behave like animals or reckless people. He also warned that if anyone approached the instruments or equipment dangerously, he would be forced to stop the show entirely.

Despite his pleas, the crowd continued to surge forward, prompting the singer to make the difficult decision to walk off stage and end the concert prematurely.

“Aapko main pranaam karta hoon,” he said before leaving the venue, acknowledging the audience while signalling his inability to continue under unsafe conditions.

Kailash Kher had posted about performing in Gwalior on Instagram. "Gwalior, lets turn the city into a festival tonight," he captioned the post about Gwalior Gaurav Divas and Tabla Divas.

Kailash Kher has not yet issued an official statement on his social media following the incident. Organisers and local authorities are expected to review the security arrangements after the chaotic turn of events at the Gwalior Vyapar Mela Maidan.
