Bollywood actor Dia Mirza took a trip down memory lane this week by tapping into the viral social-media trend that encourages users to share throwback pictures from 2016, long before the curated posts of today’s feeds dominated Instagram. With Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein gearing up to celebrate its 25th anniversary later in 2026, Dia joined the nostalgia wave by posting a carousel of unseen and behind-the-scenes photos from the beloved 2001 romantic drama on her Instagram.

In her caption, the actress wrote, “This was 2016. On October 19, 2026, it will be 25 years. A gift that keeps on giving. Name the film. Oh Maddy. Maddy look what showed up!” while tagging her co-star R. Madhavan, affectionately referred to by fans as “Maddy.” The heartfelt message struck a chord with followers, many of whom responded with love and nostalgic comments, reinforcing the film’s enduring legacy in Indian pop culture.

Fans and followers were quick to respond. One fan wrote that Rehnaa Hai Tere Dil Mein was their first experience of a romantic movie as a teenager, while another added that it remains their first and forever favourite film, and they feel that the fans “haven’t changed a bit” in their love for the classic.

Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, is remembered as one of Bollywood’s classic romantic dramas, starring Dia Mirza as Reena Malhotra and R. Madhavan as Madhav “Maddy” Shastri. The emotional love story, complemented by its memorable soundtrack, has stood the test of time and continues to find new audiences even two and a half decades after its initial release.

Fans have continued to celebrate RHTDM online, often calling it an emotional touchstone that defined a generation’s romantic idealism.
