Anil Kapoor celebrates 43 years of Kannada film debut, praises KGF and Kantara teams 'for raising the bar so high'

Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor made his Kannada film debut in 1983 with the romance drama Pallavi Anu Pallavi. The actor marked the 43rd anniversary of his Kannada film debut with a heartfelt note.

Anil Kapoor took to his Instagram Story and shared a scene from the song O Premi O Premi.

Alongside the clip, the actor penned in the caption, “43 years ago, I took my first step into the Kannada film industry. From then to now, it’s incredible to see how Kannada cinema is booming and redefining Indian cinema globally.”

The actor reflected on his early days in the industry and the evolution of Kannada cinema.

Additionally, Anil Kapoor took the opportunity to commend the current wave of Kannada cinema, praising the teams responsible for two of its greatest modern triumphs.

He then acknowledged the impact of these films on Kannada cinema’s national standing and continued, “Salute to Yash, Prashanth Neel, Rishab Shetty and the teams behind KGF and Kantara for raising the bar so high. Hopefully not my last association with this amazing industry.”

However, Rishab Shetty reacted to Anil Kapoor’s post and penned, “We’re so proud of you, Sir! Your journey began here, and today you stand as a true legend of Indian cinema. It was an absolute honour to meet you and have such a wonderful conversation. A special mention, Pallavi Anu Pallavi remains one of my favourite films.”

Mani Ratnam made his directorial debut with Pallavi Anu Pallavi in 1983. Anil Kapoor and Lakshmi co-starred in the love drama, which won praise from critics for its narrative and music.

After making his Telugu debut in Vamsha Vruksham in 1980, Anil Kapoor made his Kannada debut in this movie, which was also his second starring role.

On the recent film front, Anil Kapoor last appeared in the film War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR. His next appearance is in the Alia Bhatt-Sharvari film Alpha, where he continues to be associated with the YRF Spy Universe by reprising his role from War 2. Additionally, the veteran actor will play a key role in Shah Rukh Khan's next movie, King.
