Bollywood's latest romantic comedy "Bad Newz" continues its strong performance at the box office during the first week after its release on July 19. The film starring Vicky Kaushal, Tripti Dimri, and Ammy Virk has raked in an estimated Rs 36.95 crore in its first five days in India.
To boost ticket sales, the makers of "Bad Newz" have introduced a Buy One, Get One Free offer. Moviegoers can avail of this deal by using the promo code "BADNEWZ" at the time of booking. This exciting offer allows audiences to enjoy double the fun for the price of one ticket.
However, it showed signs of recovery on Tuesday, earning an estimated ₹3.75 crore nett in India. This brings the film's total domestic collection to ₹36.95 crore in its first five days. While "Bad Newz" enjoyed a dominant run initially, it faces upcoming competition from Hollywood's "Deadpool and Wolverine" and Bollywood releases "Ulajh" and "Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha."
"Bad Newz" currently maintains a 13.77% Hindi occupancy rate. Audience interest peaked during night shows with an occupancy rate of 18.22%, while morning shows recorded the lowest at 9.08%. Afternoon and evening shows registered occupancy rates of 14.31% and 13.46%, respectively.
The film is a comedy-drama that deviates significantly from traditional romantic comedies. The film's narrative revolves around the unconventional concept of heteropaternal superfecundation, presenting a unique storyline centred around a woman (Triptii Dimri) and her unexpected pregnancy with twins from two different fathers (Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk). The film's premise bears similarities to the successful "Good Newwz," suggesting a potential follow-up in the genre.
Directed by Anand Tiwari and produced by Amritpal Singh Bindra, Apoorva Mehta, and Karan Johar, "Bad Newz" features Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri, and Ammy Virk in lead roles. Neha Dhupia plays a pivotal character, while Ananya Panday and Neha Sharma make special appearances.
