Akshay Kumar's cameo in Stree 2 was a standout moment, and producer Dinesh Vijan confirmed on Sunday that the actor will continue to be a part of Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe.

Akshay Kumar is currently starring in Maddock Films' latest venture Sky Force, with Dinesh Vijan and Stree 2 director Amar Kaushik serving as producers. During the trailer launch of Sky Force, Vijan was asked if the actor would feature in more films within the horror universe. In response, the producer, who heads Maddock Films, stated, ""Of course! You didn’t see the last shot (in ’Stree 2’). He’s our Thanos."

Vijan explained that Akshay's character, who is revealed to be the descendant of Stree 2 antagonist Sarkata, holds a significant role in the Maddock Films universe. He likened Akshay’s character to Thanos, the formidable supervillain from the Marvel Universe, hinting at the powerful impact his role will have on the horror comedy franchise moving forward.

When asked about his return to the horror-comedy universe, Akshay Kumar remained tight-lipped, stating that he doesn’t have anything to say. "He (Vijan) will speak or she (Jyoti Deshpande, Jio Studios) will speak. She has to put in money, he has to produce and he (Kaushik) has to direct," he added.

"Stree 2," featuring Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and Pankaj Tripathi, became one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of 2024, surpassing Rs 800 crore at the box office. Maddock Films has now confirmed that "Stree 3," the sequel to "Stree 2," is set for release on August 13, 2027.\
