Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's daughter Aaradhya Bachchan celebrated her 13th birthday earlier this month. While her mother shared a heartfelt post on social media, the absence of a birthday post from Abhishek led to speculation and trolling by netizens. However, Abhishek recently addressed these rumours in a touching segment on Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, where he proudly called himself a 'girl dad.'
During an episode of the popular game show, Abhishek joined his father, Amitabh Bachchan, and director Shoojit Sircar to promote their latest film, I Want To Talk. When asked by Big B about what convinced him to take on the role, Abhishek shared a personal insight. He explained that his character in the movie, Arjun Sen, promises his daughter to live for her despite facing severe personal challenges. This father-daughter bond resonated deeply with him.
"Shweta (Bachchan) is your daughter. I am father to Aaradhya. Shoojit Sircar has two beautiful daughters, we are all girl dads, so we understand this emotion completely. This was enough for me to be convinced to do this film," Abhishek said.
He further elaborated on the often-overlooked relationship between fathers and their children. Abhishek highlighted that while a mother's bond with her children is frequently discussed, a father's silent sacrifices and love are equally significant. "It is mostly because fathers never make it obvious. They silently do what they have to," he added.
I Want To Talk delves into the life of Arjun Sen, an NRI marketing professional and father who battles last-stage cancer. The film has garnered rave reviews, with many fans praising Abhishek's performance as his 'career-best.' Some have even gone as far as calling him a 'better actor' than his legendary father, Big B.
