In a grand tribute to one of Indian cinema’s most revered actors, PVR INOX, India’s premier cinema exhibition company, has announced Aamir Khan: Cinema Ka Jadugar, a special film festival celebrating Aamir Khan’s remarkable journey. As excitement builds, a star-studded press conference in Mumbai brought together Aamir Khan, legendary screenwriter-lyricist Javed Akhtar, and PVR founder Ajay Bijli for an insightful discussion.
At the press conference, Aamir Khan shared an interesting revelation, stating that he initially believed Bajrangi Bhaijaan would be a better fit for Salman Khan. His insight into the casting choice added another fascinating layer to the discussion, highlighting his deep understanding of storytelling and character dynamics. "Bajrangi Bhaijaan I had the script. But I had actually told the writer Mr Prasad that ismein Salman will suit better. Not that it is my suggestion but when I heard the script that was my reaction," he said.
Further speaking about his career and how he had turned down a few films, the Dangal actor said, "At my worst I had the cottage to say no. That’s why I behave this way till now. If I would have compromised that day my entire career would have been series of compromises. I got a Mahesh Bhatt film at the worst point of life. But I didn’t like the film. I had the courage and told this to Mahesh Bhatt."
During the conversation, Aamir reflected on his decision to turn down Darr, the iconic film that eventually starred Shah Rukh Khan, offering fans a rare glimpse into his choices and cinematic vision.
Talking about why he chose not to do Darr, Aamir said, "Even now I feel ki sahi hua because jo sur Yashji pakadrahe the film ka, I think Shah Rukh was suiting that sur slightly better... woh role main karta toh shayad kuch aur hojata because I was looking at it differently. So I don't really regret that because woh film achi bani and kamiym bhi hui and uss sur mein main acha nhi karpata."
Kicking off on March 14, Aamir Khan’s birthday, and running until March 27, the festival promises a grand celebration of his exceptional journey and contributions to Indian cinema.
