Trends according to the Election Commission suggest that the Bharatiya Janata Party is leading in 14 seats and the Congress in 11 seats.
The state that oscillated between the Congress and the BJP has once again proved to live up to that trend. In 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won 24 seats and the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party won one seat in Rajasthan.
The BJP's landslide victory in Rajasthan in 2019 had surprised the political analysts as the trend was contrary to the common belief that mandate comes in favour of the ruling party in the state. The state saw several pitched battles in various constituencies.
This year, the state witnessed a high voltage election campaign by both BJP and Congress. The saffron primarily campaigning in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a stable government and national security, and the Congress highlighted local issues and failures of the BJP-led dispensation at the Centre.
Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union minister for Law and Justice is leading from Rajasthan’s Bikaner constituency.
In 2019 Arjun Ram Meghwal defeated Congress candidate Madan Gopal Meghawal with a 59.82% vote share. The runner-up had a vote share of 35.8%.
BJP’s Manju Sharma is leading with a margin of 1.2 lakh votes against Congress’s Pratap Singh Khachariyawas in Jaipur. In Rajsamand, BJP’s Mahima Kumari is leading against Congress’s Damodar Gurjar with the second highest margin of over 96,000 votes.
