2024 Lok Sabha election in Maharashtra.

Beed, a significant administrative district and one of the 48 Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra, boasts a rich political and historical legacy. Established in 1951, Beed constituency was originally part of the 25 constituencies in the erstwhile Hyderabad state. Over the years, it has evolved into a crucial electoral battleground, encompassing six Vidhan Sabha segments: Georai, Majalgaon, Beed, Ashti, Kaij (SC), and Parli.

Politically, Beed has been a stronghold of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) since 2009, reflecting the party's resonance and influence among the electorate.

In the political annals of Beed, the 2014 Lok Sabha election marked a poignant turn of events with the untimely demise of Gopinath Munde, a stalwart leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who had clinched victory for the second time in the constituency. Tragically, just nine days after assuming office as a Union Minister in the Modi government, Munde met with a fatal road accident, leaving a void in the political landscape. Consequently, Beed witnessed a by-election, where Pritam Munde, Gopinath Munde's daughter, stepped into the electoral arena. In a testament to her father's legacy and her own mettle, Pritam Munde emerged victorious, securing a formidable 922,416 votes and triumphing over her rival, Congress leader Ashok Shankarrao.

The subsequent 2019 Lok Sabha election reaffirmed the BJP's dominance in Beed, with Pritam Munde retaining the seat with a renewed mandate. Pritam Munde secured a commendable 678,175 votes, consolidating her position as the representative of the people of Beed. Bajrang Manohar Sonwane of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) emerged as the runner-up, garnering 509,807 votes, while Vishnu Jadhav of the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) secured the third position with 14,166 votes.

In the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Beed anticipates a significant contest as the BJP has nominated former state minister Pankaja Munde against NCP's Bajrang Sonawane. Pankaja Munde continues the family legacy, following her father Gopinath Munde's victory in 2009 and her sister Pritam Munde's subsequent wins. Pankaja Munde's candidacy symbolizes the BJP's aim to maintain its stronghold in the constituency. However, she faces a formidable challenge from Bajrang Sonawane, representing NCP under Sharad Pawar's leadership. The outcome will not only determine Beed's parliamentary representation but also reflect its electorate's prevailing sentiments.
