Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishan has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reposing faith in him and deciding to field him again from Gorakhpur, which the film star claims to be the “hottest seat after Kashi”.

“I want to thank the top leadership wholeheartedly... The organization gave me a second chance from the hottest seat after Kashi. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the entire organization and Prime Minister Modi. I will maintain this trust... BJP will win 400 seats and Gorakhpur seat will create history,” the BJP MP said.

Kishan has held the coveted seat in Uttar Pradesh since 2019 when the last general elections were held. He had defeated Samajwadi Party candidate Rambhual Nishad in 2019 by a margin of more than 3 lakh votes. The actor plans to run for office again from Gorakhpur, which is Yogi Adityanath’s stronghold; the UP Chief Minister had held the seat till 2017.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on March 2 released its first list of 195 candidates, which includes bigwigs like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, and WCD Minister Smriti Irani. PM Modi will be contesting from the Varanasi seat for the third time. He beat Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party in 2014, and Shalini Yadav of the Samajwadi Party in 2019.
