The Directorate of Education (DoE) in New Delhi is set to release the first merit list for admissions to pre-school (Nursery), pre-primary (Kindergarten), and Class 1 today, January 17, 2025. The merit list will be available across private and unaided schools in Delhi and marks a significant milestone in the admission process for the academic session 2025-26. The process began on November 28, 2024, and officially concluded on January 3, 2025.

Parents and guardians will be able to check the Delhi Nursery admission merit list for 2025 on the respective school websites. Any concerns regarding point allocation for their child’s application can be addressed through written, email, or verbal communication between January 18 and 27, 2025.

• January 17, 2025: Release of the first merit list of selected and waitlisted candidates, based on a points-based system.
• January 18–27, 2025: Period for resolving parent queries regarding the allocation of points in the first list.
• February 3, 2025: Release of the second merit list (including waiting list) with assigned points.
• February 5–11, 2025: Period for resolving parent queries related to the second merit list.
• February 26, 2025: Release of the final list of selected candidates (if required).
• March 14, 2025: Conclusion of the admission process.

Parents can view the Delhi Nursery Admission 2025 merit list by visiting the official Directorate of Education website at edudel.nic.in. Simply use your child’s registration number and date of birth to log in. The merit list includes selected candidates for Nursery, Kindergarten (KG), and Class 1 admissions in private, unaided recognized schools across Delhi.

The DoE oversees a centralized online system for the 25% of seats reserved for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) students. As per the guidelines, children eligible for Nursery admission must be at least three years old as of March 31, 2025, with a maximum age limit of four years. A relaxation of up to 30 days in the age criteria can be granted upon parental request.

Admissions are based on a points system where schools allocate specific scores for various criteria. Proximity to the school holds the highest weight, emphasizing the importance of location. Additional factors include sibling and alumni connections.

Certain schools may also assign points for being a firstborn, a girl child, or from a single-parent household. However, criteria such as parental qualifications, occupations, and financial status are explicitly excluded. Schools have the discretion to determine their criteria and the points assigned, with some institutions offering provisions for specific groups, such as religious minorities (e.g., Sikh and Christian communities) or economically disadvantaged families.
