Reporting Time of Candidates for CTET December 2024

Validity Period of CTET Certificate

The CTET qualifying certificate is valid for a lifetime for all categories. There is no limit on the number of attempts a person can take to acquire a CTET certificate. Additionally, individuals who have qualified the CTET may appear again to improve their score.

What is CTET Certificate Applicability?

(i) The CTET applies to schools under the Central Government, including KVS, NVS, Central Tibetan Schools, and those administered by Union Territories such as Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, and NCT of Delhi.

(ii) Un-aided private schools have the option to consider the CTET for teacher recruitment.

(iii) Schools owned or managed by State Governments, local bodies, and aided schools are required to follow the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by the respective State Government. However, a State Government may opt to accept the CTET if it decides not to conduct its own TET.

(iv) As per CBSE Affiliation Bye-Laws, the minimum qualifications for teachers in CBSE-affiliated schools have been amended. It is now mandatory for teachers appointed on or after March 6, 2012, to qualify and pass the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) or a State TET conducted in accordance with NCTE guidelines to teach classes I to VIII.

CTET Qualifying Marks

As per NCTE Notification No. 76-4/2010/NCTE/Acad dated 11.02.2011, a candidate who achieves a score of 60% or higher in the TET exam will be considered to have passed the exam.

(a) School managements (Government, local bodies, government-aided, and unaided) may provide concessions to candidates from SC/ST, OBC, differently-abled persons, and other such categories, in line with their existing reservation policies.

(b) While CTET scores should be given weightage in the recruitment process, qualifying the CTET does not guarantee recruitment or employment. It is one of the eligibility criteria for appointment but does not entitle any candidate to a job.
