In a profound gesture transcending religious boundaries, a young Muslim man’s prayer for the recovery of a revered Hindu saint, offered from the holy city of Madina, has become a viral symbol of unity and shared humanity.

The incident centres on Sant Premanand Ji Maharaj of Mathura-Vrindavan, who has been unwell with kidney-related issues and is undergoing treatment at the Shri Radhehit Kelikunj Ashram. As news of his ill health spread, sparking prayers across India, one particular supplication has captured the nation’s attention for its unique origin.

A video, lasting approximately one minute and twenty seconds, shows Sufiyan Allahabadi standing with the sacred mosque of Madina clearly visible in the background. With his hands raised in the traditional posture of dua, or supplication, he is heard saying, “O Allah, please make India’s great saint Premanand Maharaj healthy soon, so that he can continue guiding his devotees.”

In his narration, Sufiyan, who hails from Prayagraj, explained his reasons while showing a photo of the saint on his mobile phone. “Sant Premanand Maharaj is a very good person. We have come to know that he is unwell,” he stated. “We are in Khizra now. From here, we pray that Allah grants him health and wellness. We are from India and we also admire him. He is a true and good human being.”
He further emphasised the core message of his act, asserting that “Hindu or Muslim does not matter. Being a good and true person is important.”

The video has rapidly gained traction across social media platforms, including X, Facebook and Instagram, where it has been shared thousands of times. Users have widely praised the act as a beautiful reflection of India's syncretic 'Ganga-Jamuni' culture, noting that such gestures represent the nation's true spirit.

In a significant endorsement, Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, the national president of the All India Muslim Jamaat, has praised the viral gesture of Sufiyan Allahabadi, whose prayer in Madina for the health of Premanand Maharaj captivated the nation, as reported by NDTV India.

In a statement, Maulana Razvi described Sufiyan’s action as being in keeping with Islamic values, affirming that "Islam is a religion of tolerance and humanity." He added his own voice to the supplication, stating, "I also pray for Premanand Maharaj's speedy recovery." The Maulana further characterised the prayer from the holy city of Medina Sharif as a powerful "example of humanity."
He emphasised that such initiatives are crucial for promoting inter-religious harmony and brotherhood, a sentiment widely echoed across social media platforms.

Many have described the clip as a powerful symbol of humanity creating a spiritual bridge connecting the Islamic holy site of Madina to the Hindu devotional centre of Vrindavan.

Amidst this outpouring of support, there is a note of cautious optimism regarding the saint’s health. According to a recent update from his ashram in Vrindavan, Sant Premanand Maharaj’s condition is said to be gradually improving.
