The Winter Session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly will begin on January 5, with pollution and environmental issues set to be discussed in detail. The four-day session will continue till January 8, according to an official notification issued by the Assembly Secretariat.

Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra said on Tuesday that the Council of Ministers has decided to hold a special discussion on pollution during the session. He said the government would place before the House a detailed account of the current pollution situation in the capital, the reasons behind it, and the steps taken so far to control it.

“Pollution will be discussed in the Assembly. Its causes, solutions and the present situation will be examined in detail,” Mishra said while addressing a press conference.

He added that the government would also review actions taken on affidavits submitted by previous governments in the Supreme Court, along with findings from scientific reports. A comprehensive review of pollution-related developments over the past 20 years will also be presented.

The minister urged the opposition to come prepared for the debate. “I request the opposition to bring reports of the work they did to control pollution during their tenure,” he said.

Mishra also said that the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report related to the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ would be taken up for discussion during the session.

As per the notification, Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has summoned the Fourth Session of the Eighth Delhi Legislative Assembly. The session will begin at 2 pm in the Assembly Hall at the Old Secretariat.

Question Hour will be held on three of the four days, and discussions are expected across key government departments, with pollution likely to remain the central focus.
