Thieves broke into the house of a retired banker in Lucknow's Indira Nagar C-Block, but before stealing anything, they made themselves completely at home, the police said on Monday.
According to a report by NDTV, the thieves first entered the locked house of Bhupal Singh, a former bank official currently in Delhi for medical treatment with his wife, then they leisurely went the kitchen, cooked instant noodles, prepared a side dish of stir-fried peas, and ate a full meal.

After their feast, they turned on the air conditioner and relaxed. The burglary came to light after neighbour Deepa Bisht, while watering plants, noticed the lights were on and the main lock broken. She immediately alerted the police.
When police arrived, they found the house in disarray, open cupboards, broken lockers, clothes scattered on the bed, and an unfinished plate of noodles. A half-used packet of noodles lay on the kitchen counter, the stove had a wok on it, and the matchbox and lighter were left behind. According to the police, the thieves had enough time to explore every corner of the house.
Interestingly, the family had taken all their jewellery with them to Delhi, so the burglars managed to flee with only some cash. A video of the ransacked house, now going viral on social media, shows clear signs of the feast party that the burglars enjoyed before carrying out the theft.
According to Ghazipur SHO Vikas Rai, police are aware of the incident and will initiate legal proceedings once a formal complaint is lodged. Meanwhile, CCTV footage from nearby homes is being examined to identify the culprits.
While such laid-back burglaries are not new to the area, a similar incident last year involved a thief taking a nap under an AC, according to a report by Free Press Journal.
