KTM has launched the international-spec KTM 390 Adventure R in India at Rs 3,77,915 (ex-showroom, New Delhi), bringing the global-spec, off-road-focussed version of its adventure motorcycle to the Indian market.
The KTM 390 Adventure R is positioned as a more hardcore and trail-ready alternative to the standard 390 Adventure, which is priced at Rs 3,96,744 (ex-showroom, New Delhi), and targets riders who want stronger off-road performance in the sub-400cc segment. It is powered by a 399cc single-cylinder engine (46PS and 39Nm) mated to a 6-speed gearbox, and features long-travel suspension, rally-inspired styling, and a wheel setup designed for rough terrain.
A key highlight is the 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel combination, commonly seen on dedicated off-road and rally motorcycles. The bike is equipped with fully adjustable WP suspension offering 230mm of travel, aimed at improving ground clearance, stability, and control over uneven trails, rocks and loose surfaces.
KTM has also equipped the 390 Adventure R with advanced rider aids to support both road and off-road use. The motorcycle gets cornering motorcycle traction control (MTC), cornering ABS, and offroad ABS. An offroad ride mode allows controlled rear-wheel slip for better traction on surfaces such as sand, gravel and mud. The off-road settings are retained even after an engine stall or shutdown, helping riders quickly resume riding in challenging conditions.
While it is built with a strong focus on dirt riding, KTM says the 390 Adventure R remains capable on paved roads as well. A low centre of gravity, agile handling, and the large 21-inch front wheel are intended to provide stability and confidence across mixed riding environments, including highways and broken roads.
The motorcycle features a 5-inch full-colour TFT display with customisable information layouts and a multi-functional handlebar switch. A USB Type-C charging port is offered as standard. Through KTM connect, riders can pair their smartphones to access call alerts, music controls, and optional turn-by-turn navigation directly on the TFT screen.
In terms of ergonomics, the KTM 390 Adventure R is designed for long-distance touring and technical off-road riding. It comes with a rally-style windscreen, upright riding posture, off-road-focussed footpegs, and a rider triangle aimed at improving comfort, control and endurance during extended rides.
