Balkrishna Industries (BKT) today announced its entry into India's consumer tyre market with the launch of its on-highway portfolio, introducing tyres for two-wheelers and outlining plans to enter the medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) radial segment in Q1 FY27.
For Indian riders and fleet operators, this marks the arrival of a new domestic brand in the replacement tyre space, expanding choices beyond BKT's established off-highway portfolio.
The consumer journey begins with two purpose-built two-wheeler tyre lines -- BKT Zenova and BKT Thyros. BKT Zenova is designed for city commuting with a focus on enhanced comfort, smooth handling and dependable grip for everyday urban riders. BKT Thyros is engineered for on-road and off-road surfaces, offering confidence and control across mixed terrain conditions. Both are made in India and built around comfort, grip, safety and mileage, covering motorcycle and scooter segments.
The company said the tyres are manufactured under IATF 16949-certified processes and undergo design verification, accelerated durability trials and vehicle-level testing at NATRAX, Indore, for wet and dry braking, ride quality and handling performance. The products carry mandatory BIS certifications.
In the commercial on-road segment, BKT will introduce BKT m.Loadxpert (11.00R20) and BKT Milexpert RG (295/90R20). The tyres are developed for applications such as cement transport, construction logistics and regional cargo movement, with focus on stability, casing strength and consistent performance.
Each commercial tyre undergoes 138 in-process quality checks and over 20 design verification tests, with certifications from NABL-accredited laboratories and compliance with BIS standards.
BKT will roll out the portfolio in phases through its nationwide distributor-dealer network, supported by a digital service and complaint-response platform. The company has committed Rs 3,500 crore investment under its expansion plan and is targeting revenue of approximately Rs 23,000 crore by FY30.
