Paddy arrivals in Haryana cross 3.39 lakh MT

With the fresh arrival of over 1.63 lakh metric tonnes of paddy in various grain markets of Haryana yesterday, total arrivals of the crop in the state this year have crossed the 3.39 lakh MT-mark.

With the fresh arrival of over 1.63 lakh metric tonnes of paddy in various grain markets of Haryana yesterday, total arrivals of the crop in the state this year have crossed the 3.39 lakh MT-mark.


Over 1.48 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has arrived in the grain markets of Kurukshetra district, 81,057 metric tonnes in Karnal district, 46,966 metric tonnes in Ambala district, 40,681 metric tonnes in Kaithal district and 19,478 metric tonnes in Yamunanagar district.


Out of the total arrivals of paddy, over 3.25 lakh MT of paddy was purchased by the six government procuring agencies and the rest by private dealers, an official spokesman said today.


In neighbouring Punjab, government agencies and private millers had procured 1,82,278 tonnes of paddy till yesterday evening.


Tarn Taran district in Punjab led the rest of the state in terms of paddy arrivals, with 40,442 tonnes procured by state agencies and private traders.


The Punjab government has set up 1,745 procurement centres across the state to ensure the smooth procurement of paddy.
