Chennai, Jan 18 (PTI) CBI today arrested another member of Dental Council of India (DCI) here in connection with alleged bribe paid by a private dental college in Tamil Nadu for securing approval for a new course, taking the total number of detentions in the case to five. Dr Gunaseelan Rajan, President of Tamil Nadu Dental Association and a member of DCI, was arrested after a day-long grilling by the CBI, sources said today. The investigating agency on January 7 had arrested DCI member Dr S Murukesan for allegedly demanding Rs one crore as bribe and accepting Rs 25 lakh as advance for granting approval for a post-graduate course by the college. Three functionaries of the Melmaruvathur-based Adhiparasakthi Dental College and Hospital were also arrested from the DCI member's dental clinic here for allegedly offering the illegal gratification. In a related development, the CBI court today dismissed the bail plea of Murukesan and the three others -- K Ramabadran, R Karunanidhi and T Palani. The arrest of Murukesan followed a surprise check by CBI at his clinic following 'credible' information. PTI VIJ DSJ MS VS ASY NTR
