The rupee has appreciated a full 12.5 percent from its all time low scaled on August 28. The rupee's impact on the country‘s trade deficit has been salutary. However, there are loads of tradeoffs involved in this management of the currency says Subir Gokarn, director- Research at Brookings Institutions and former deputy governor.
