Gitanjali Gems Q1 net profit up 21% at Rs 149 cr

Diamond jewellery manufacturer and retailer Gitanjali Gems's consolidated net profit rose by 21% year-on-year to Rs 149 crore in the quarter ended June 2012.

Diamond jewellery manufacturer and retailer Gitanjali Gems' consolidated net profit rose by 21% year-on-year to Rs 149 crore in the quarter ended June 2012.

Consolidated net sales increased 31.4% to Rs 3,384.7 crore from Rs 2,576.2 crore during the same period.

Other income jumped 482.5% to Rs 135.6 crore while interest and other finance cost went up by 141% to Rs 188.33 YoY.

Tax expenses declined 36% to Rs 9.33 crore crore in the first quarter of FY13 from Rs 14.6 crore in a year ago period.
