Sulekha.com, the most popular online community for Indians worldwide, bagged the top honours in PC World's Web Awards 2008. It stood out for its comprehensive directory listing for India while competing with ten other websites offering similar services. Describing Sulekha.com as a full-fledged portal, complete with blogs, food recipes, travel and movie information, PC World's Web Award Jury commended the site's city specific wide-ranging search engine.
Sulekha's online directory, allows it users to obtain localized information and also interact and get feedback from other users. These features along with the wealth of information and its comprehensive city coverage went down well with the jury. It was adjudged as the winner based on its design, technology and overall user experience.
Speaking on Sulekha's achievement Mr. Satya Prabhakar, CEO of Sulekha.com said, "In an era where Information Technology and businesses are inextricably interwoven, it is necessary for businesses, small and large, to become more accessible. This award is a testament of our endeavor to provide a great platform for users to effectively share localized information".
This year, the winners have been announced in 33 categories out of a list of 500 websites. Content, structure, and technology are the parameters that PC World's 13 member jury used for evaluation of the websites.
