Making the most from fuel price deregulation, Royal Dutch Shell's India unit has raised the number of petrol pumps in the country to 83.

Shell India opened a petrol pump in Uttarahalli area of Bengaluru, taking its operational fuel stations in India to 83, of which 30 are in Karnataka, the company said in a statement.

"With the opening of the Uttarahalli fuel station, Shell now has 28 fuel stations in Bengaluru," it said. "Shell is currently present across the six key states of Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Assam." Ravi Sundararajan, General Manager, Shell Retail India said, "The regulatory environment is getting increasingly conducive for fuel retail business in India. With the diesel price deregulation (in 2014), our fuels are now available at market price across all outlets." The government had deregulated or freed petrol price in June 2010 and diesel in November 2014.

"We are confident that locals from the area along with transient public and long distance travellers will take full advantage of our retail offerings," he added.
