Chinese delegation meets Mamata, expresses investment interest

A five-member Chinese delegation led by Chinese Ambassador to India Luo Zhaohui met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the state Secretariat Nabanna.

During their meeting with Banerjee, which lasted for around 45-minutes, the Chinese diplomat expressed interest to invest in the state, principally in the manufacturing and MSME sectors, officials said.

The state government also welcomed them with a promise of providing ready land, they said.

State Finance Minister Amit Mitra and Chief Secretary Basudeb Banerjee were also present at the meeting, he said.

"It was a courtesy call. The Chinese diplomat expressed interest in investing in the state. The Chief Minister also welcomed him stating that the state will provide every possible assistance," the officials said.
