Karachi Police has arrested Salman Farooqi, CEO of Bionic Films, following a viral video showing him and his armed guards assaulting a Hindu man, Sudhair Dhun Raj, in the city's upscale Defence Society area. The incident occurred after Raj's motorcycle allegedly grazed Farooqi's luxury vehicle. Despite Raj's apologies and his sister Kalpana's pleas for mercy, Farooq and his guards continued the assault.
The attack, captured on video, sparked widespread outrage on social media. An eyewitness, Muhammad Saleem, filed a complaint at Gizri Police Station, leading to Farooqi's arrest. The FIR includes charges of issuing death threats, physical assault, harassment of a woman, and verbal abuse.
The video of the incident shows Farooqi holding Raj’s hands as his bodyguards, seated inside the vehicle, repeatedly assault the victim. Kalpana can be heard begging Farooqi to stop with folded hands, but her pleas were ignored as the assault continued.
Disgusting. #SalmanFarooqui, CEO of #BionicFilms, proves how heartless the elite can be. Over a minor incident, he chose violence while the victim's sister PLEADED for mercy. How cruel can you be? This isnt power, its inhumanity.pic.twitter.com/rFcPEDLcU5

Farooqi and his accomplices were presented before a Karachi court, which granted a two-day physical remand for further investigation. The victim's family, residents of the impoverished Ranchhore Lines area, are reportedly cooperating with authorities.
This incident once again highlights concerns over the safety of minority communities in Pakistan, particularly Hindus, and the impunity often enjoyed by influential individuals.
