Iran claims surprise strike on Netanyahu’s office using Kheibar missile, IRGC says his 'fate unclear'

Israel-Iran War: The IRGC claimed it used a Kheibar missile in the operation. The group said the strike was aimed at Netanyahu’s office as well as the location of the Israeli Air Force commander.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Monday said it carried out a surprise missile strike on the office of Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and airforce commander headquarters, reported AFP.

"The office of the criminal prime minister of the Zionist regime and the headquarters of the regime's air force commander were targeted," the Guards said in a statement carried by Fars news agency.

Meanwhile, Iran Times quoted the IRGC claiming it used a Kheibar missile in the operation. The group said the strike was aimed at Netanyahu’s office as well as the location of the Israeli Air Force commander.

According to Iran Times, IRGC claims Netanyahu's fate is “unclear” following the attack.

However, Israeli media denied Tehran’s claims that Netanyahu’s office was struck in the missile attack, calling them 'false propaganda.'

Iran also hit targets across the Gulf, with the army saying it had launched 15 cruise missiles in strikes on a US air base in Kuwait and vessels in the Indian Ocean.

A power plant in Qatar was hit, one person was killed as an oil tanker was targeted off Oman, and British officials said a vessel in a Bahrain port had been struck by "unknown projectiles".

The US embassy in Kuwait, where black smoke could be seen, said in a statement that people should not come to the diplomatic mission: "Take cover in your residence on the lowest available floor and away from windows. Do not go outside."

The IRGC's claim comes amid escalating hostilities between Iran and Israel following a series of US-Israeli strikes on Iranian military and nuclear-related sites, which also claimed the life of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei along with several other top members of the country's leadership.

There was no immediate confirmation from Israeli authorities regarding the reported strike or the targets mentioned by the IRGC.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said American military operations in Iran would continue for weeks and would not stop until Washington achieved its objectives.

Similarly, Israel's Foreign Affairs Minister Gideon Sa'ar said the country would continue its military campaign against Iran with no fixed timeline for ending the operation.

According to the Iranian Red Crescent Society, at least 555 people have been killed across Iran since the joint US-Israeli strikes began on Saturday. Iran’s ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency said the Natanz Nuclear Facility, a key centre in Iran’s uranium enrichment programme, was among the nuclear sites hit in the recent attacks.
