An Indian-origin man, identified as Manpreet Singh of Indian heritage and a resident of Brampton, is the suspect in the murder of a 27-year-old woman in Ontario. A Canada-wide arrest warrant has been issued for Singh, who is wanted for the second-degree murder of Amanpreet Saini.
The suspect, Manpreet Singh, also 27, and a resident of Brampton, is wanted for the second-degree murder of Amanpreet Saini. Her body was discovered with “traumatic injuries” in a park in Lincoln on October 21, according to the Niagara Regional Police Service.
Police said Singh is believed to have fled Canada shortly after Saini’s body was found. “This is believed to have been a targeted attack with no ongoing threat to public safety,” the force said in a statement. Authorities have released Singh’s photograph and urged the public not to approach him if seen. “Call 911 immediately,” police advised.
Singh, whose family hails from Punjab, has fled to India, according to NDTV. The report added that Canadian security agencies have contacted Indian authorities to help secure his arrest.
Saini, originally from Punjab’s Sangrur district, had been living in Toronto for the past few years.
