
The 39th edition of the Surajkund International Crafts Mela 2026 has begun in Faridabad, Haryana, bringing together India’s rich cultural heritage, global craftsmanship, and vibrant folk traditions under one roof. One of the country’s most celebrated cultural festivals, the mela opened on January 31 and will continue until February 15, 2026.
Held annually since 1987, the Surajkund Mela draws lakhs of visitors from India and abroad, offering an immersive showcase of traditional arts, handicrafts, folk music, dance performances, and regional cuisines.
Surajkund Mela 2026 theme, partner nation, and highlights
The central theme for this year’s edition is ‘Local to Global’, with a focus on giving traditional Indian artisans wider international exposure. Uttar Pradesh and Meghalaya have been named the theme states for 2026, while Egypt is participating as the partner nation.
Visitors can enjoy daily performances by renowned national and international folk artists at the open-air theatres, known as Chaupals, within the mela premises. Cultural evening programmes will also be held every day at the main Chaupal. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini attended the inauguration ceremony.

Weekends: Rs 180 per person
Concessional tickets are available for students and senior citizens on the production of valid ID. Entry for children below a certain age is generally free, subject to verification at the venue.

The nearest Delhi Metro station to the Surajkund Mela is Badarpur Border, with feeder services available from nearby stations such as Tughlakabad and Sarai.
To manage the expected footfall, the roadways administration has deployed 18 special buses during the mela period. Bus services operate:

Approximately every 15 minutes on weekends
The first special bus service began from Ballabhgarh at 7:00 am on January 31.
Surajkund Mela 2026 stalls and pricing
Around 1,300 stalls have been set up this year, showcasing a wide range of products including textiles, metal crafts, woodwork, pottery, jewellery, and home décor items. To ensure transparency, all stalls are required to display fixed rate cards for their products.

As the theme state, Uttar Pradesh is highlighting its iconic crafts such as Chikankari embroidery, Zardozi work, carpet weaving, and pottery. Traditional cuisines from Lucknow and Varanasi are also drawing strong interest from visitors.
