Delhi’s much-loved Amrit Udyan at Rashtrapati Bhavan has thrown open its gates for the 2026 season, giving residents and visitors a chance to experience one of the capital’s most scenic green spaces at its seasonal best. Formerly known as the Mughal Gardens, Amrit Udyan is among the city’s most anticipated annual attractions, offering a refreshing escape into nature amid rising pollution levels and urban congestion.
The gardens are now open to the public from February 3 to March 31, 2026, as part of the annual Udyan Utsav.
What makes Amrit Udyan special?
Spread across nearly 15 acres, Amrit Udyan is known for its symmetrical design, manicured lawns and vibrant floral displays. Over the years, the garden has evolved beyond its original layout, which once included the East Lawn, Central Lawn, Long Garden and Circular Garden.
Several new themed sections were added during the tenures of former Presidents Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and Ram Nath Kovind, expanding the garden’s appeal. These include the Herbal Garden, Tactile Garden, Bonsai Garden and Arogya Vanam, each designed to promote wellness, sensory engagement and environmental awareness.

What’s new at Amrit Udyan in 2026?
According to information available on the official Rashtrapati Bhavan website, the 2026 edition places special emphasis on detailed landscaping and seasonal flower arrangements. Visitors can expect a fresh visual experience with carefully curated blooms and colour-themed sections.
A key new attraction this year is the Babbling Brook, a landscaped water feature featuring a flowing stream with gentle cascades. The area also includes sculpted water spouts, stepping stones, reflexology pathways and a reflecting pool, adding a tranquil element to the garden walk.
Timings and weekly schedule
Amrit Udyan is open six days a week, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, with the last entry allowed at 5:00 pm. The garden remains closed every Monday for routine maintenance. It will also be closed on March 4, 2026, on account of Holi.

As in previous years, the garden will be reserved exclusively for specific groups on select days:
March 3 – Defence personnel
March 5 – Senior citizens
March 10 – Women and tribal women Self-Help Groups (SHGs)
March 13 – Differently-abled persons
These special openings are part of the government’s effort to ensure wider and more inclusive access.
