Samsung may raise Galaxy A series prices in India, tipster claims

Samsung may increase Galaxy A series smartphone prices in India, according to a tipster. Most models could see a Rs 1,000 hike, while the Galaxy A56 may get costlier by Rs 2,000, possibly due to rising memory chip costs.

Samsung’s popular Galaxy A series, known for offering solid features at relatively affordable prices, may soon get a bit more expensive in India. According to a new tip, Samsung is planning a price hike across much of its Galaxy A lineup, a move that could affect buyers looking for budget and mid-range smartphones.

The claim comes from tipster Abhishek Yadav, who said in a post on X that Samsung will raise Galaxy A-series prices in India starting Monday. As per the tip, most Galaxy A models will see a price increase of around Rs 1,000. The Galaxy A56, which sits at the higher end of the A series, is said to get a bigger hike of Rs 2,000.

For now, Samsung has not officially confirmed any price changes. In fact, the Galaxy A56 5G is still listed on Samsung’s official India website at its original launch prices. The phone currently starts at Rs 38,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. The higher versions, with more storage and RAM, are priced at Rs 41,999 and Rs 44,999. This means the reported hike has not yet reflected on official listings.

What makes this possible price increase interesting is the timing. Usually, smartphone brands lower prices on existing models as newer phones get closer to launch. In this case, Samsung is reportedly doing the opposite, raising prices just ahead of its next Galaxy A-series launches. This suggests that external factors, rather than product positioning, may be driving the decision.

One likely reason behind the price hike is the rising cost of memory components. Globally, prices of memory chips such as DRAM have been going up due to higher demand for newer technologies like DDR5 and high-bandwidth memory used in AI servers and advanced computing. If memory becomes more expensive for manufacturers to source, the extra cost often gets passed on to consumers.

If this trend continues, Samsung may not be alone. Other smartphone brands that rely on similar components could also increase prices, especially in the budget and mid-range segments where margins are already tight.

Meanwhile, Samsung is expected to launch new Galaxy A-series phones soon. The Galaxy A07 5G is tipped to arrive later this month or early next year, ahead of Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event. The Galaxy A37 5G and Galaxy A57 5G are reportedly planned for February 2026, slightly earlier than Samsung’s usual March timeline.

For buyers, the takeaway is simple. If you have been planning to buy a Galaxy A-series phone, it may be worth keeping an eye on prices over the next few days. If the tip turns out to be accurate, waiting too long could mean paying a little extra.
