  • Other brands may adopt similar privacy screens by late 2026

Samsung’s upcoming flagship is already creating buzz, and this time it’s not just about cameras or performance. Ahead of the February 25 launch, the company has teased a new “Privacy Display” feature on the Galaxy S26 series — and it’s quickly becoming one of the most talked-about additions.

As the name suggests, the feature is designed to stop people from sneaking a glance at your phone screen. In a teaser shared by Samsung, users can turn on a “zero-peeking privacy” mode, after which the display becomes unreadable from side angles. Interestingly, the screen continues to look completely normal to the person holding the phone, but anyone trying to peek from the side will only see a blank or distorted view.

This could be a big deal for everyday use, especially in places like metros, flights, or cafés where shoulder surfing is common. Until now, users have relied on privacy screen protectors to deal with this problem, but Samsung’s solution is built directly into the display. That means no extra accessories and no compromise on screen quality.

The technology behind this feature is believed to be Samsung Display’s “Flex Magic Pixel” OLED, which controls how light is emitted so that visibility is limited to specific angles. While Samsung is the first to bring this to smartphones in a native way, it may not stay exclusive for long.

According to a recent leak by tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, several Chinese smartphone brands are expected to adopt similar privacy display technology later this year, possibly around September. This suggests that upcoming Android flagships launching towards the end of 2026 could also feature built-in anti-peeping screens.

Samsung hasn’t confirmed whether the Privacy Display will be limited to the Galaxy S26 Ultra or available across the entire S26 lineup. However, the feature already stands out as a practical upgrade focused on real-world usability rather than just specs on paper.

While this alone may not be enough reason for everyone to upgrade, it’s certainly a meaningful addition for users who value privacy. And if the leaks are accurate, it might soon become a standard feature across Android phones — much like high refresh rate displays or in-display fingerprint sensors did over time.
