Enterprise adoption of artificial intelligence is gaining momentum, with more than 50 percent of AI use cases delivering measurable impact, Infosys Knowledge Institute, the research arm of the information technology giant, said on March 12.
"The research reveals that 19 percent of AI use cases deliver on all their business objectives, while another 32 percent show promise by partially meeting their objectives," the company said in a release.
The research indicates that organisations prioritising core, transformational AI use cases are more likely to achieve business objectives, it said.
The AI Business Value Radar is based on a survey of 3,240 companies across 132 AI business applications and highlights a shift from experimental AI projects to full-scale deployments.
It also revealed that Agentic AI—AI systems capable of autonomous decision-making—has emerged as a priority for enterprises seeking to transform operating models.
The research also highlights the role of effective employee training and change management, which can boost AI success rates by up to 18 percentage points.
AI adoption trends
Industries such as professional services, life sciences, high-tech, and telecom are leading in AI success, while travel, retail, and public sector are struggling to see consistent impact.
IT operations, cybersecurity and software development remain the most widely adopted AI applications, with 10-15 percent higher success rates compared to other areas, the survey showed.
Despite these advancements, only 16 percent of companies have implemented structured AI change management programs.
Infosys recommended five key steps to accelerate AI-driven transformation, including adopting agentic AI, investing in workforce readiness, and establishing AI governance frameworks.
“Enterprise AI is ready to scale,” said Satish H C, EVP & Chief Delivery Officer, Infosys. “With effective use of data architecture, operating models, and employee readiness, businesses can accelerate AI adoption to drive measurable success.”
Companies willing to revamp their operating models and invest in employee enablement will be best positioned for AI-driven transformation, Jeff Kavanaugh, Head of Infosys Knowledge Institute, said.
