OnePlus has officially announced OxygenOS 16, its next major software version built on Android 16. The update introduces a host of AI-powered features, faster system performance, and deeper cross-device connectivity. The OnePlus 15 will be the first smartphone to launch with OxygenOS 16 out of the box.

OxygenOS 16 introduces Plus Mind, OnePlus’s new personal intelligence system that learns user habits and organizes content in Mind Space, a central hub for screenshots, notes, and reminders. Users can trigger Plus Mind using the new Plus Key or a three-finger swipe gesture. It can recognize contextual information — such as dates or addresses in images — and suggest relevant actions like calendar entries.

The system also integrates Google Gemini for personalized, context-aware assistance. Gemini can pull information from Mind Space to generate tailored results — for instance, creating a home decor plan using saved images or notes.

The new AI Efficiency Suite includes AI Writer for generating text, charts, and captions, and AI Scan for converting documents and whiteboards into editable PDFs. For imaging, features like AI Portrait Glow and AI Perfect Shot enhance photos, while AI PlayLab offers experimental tools such as YumSee (text-to-image) and Party Up (photo-to-video).

Powered by Parallel Processing 2.0, OxygenOS 16 delivers smoother transitions and faster animations. The interface gains Flux Theme 2.0 and a redesigned Fluid Cloud system for interactive notifications from third-party apps.

Security has been enhanced with the Private Computing Cloud, providing hardware-level protection for sensitive data. OxygenOS 16 also extends to tablets with multi-app split views and improved PC connectivity.

The OxygenOS 16 Open Beta Program begins October 17, followed by a stable rollout. The OnePlus 15 will be the first device to feature it pre-installed.

Arthur Lam, Director of OxygenOS and AI Strategy at OnePlus, said the update reflects the company’s “Intelligently Yours” philosophy, combining personalization with performance. “OxygenOS 16 is designed to understand users, not just respond to them,” Lam said.
