Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a warning regarding the new security issues it has found within the multiple versions of Chrome web browser. The government body has also issued an advisory regarding the same and has asked users to follow certain steps to keep their important data safe and secure.
What’s the warningCERT-In has mentioned that they’ve found multiple vulnerabilities within Google Chrome for Desktop and has classified the severity rating as “High”. The security flaw within, as per the advisory, can let attackers cause “Denial of Service” (DoS) and execute arbitrary code on the targeted system.
How it affects usersBeing able to run arbitrary code on the targeted system means the security of the system is compromised and that could allow attackers gain privileged access to the system and data. This means you can data, personal information including passwords, and banking details can fall into wrong hands.

Why do these vulnerabilities exist in ChromeAccording to the advisory, these vulnerabilities exist in Google Chrome due to Type Confusion in V8 and Heap buffer overflow in Skia. A remote attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by sending a specially crafted request on the targeted system.
What you can doCERT-In has advised users to install the latest version of the Google Chrome browser as soon as possible.
Step 1: Open Google Chrome and click on three dots at the top right corner
Step 2: Click on Help and then select “About Chrome”
Step 3: Chrome will check for update and install it automatically
Step 4: Restart when asked to update Chrome
