Avengers Doomsday

The teaser trailers for "Avengers: Doomsday" are being officially released steadily as Marvel Studios prepares the world for the next Avengers movie. Robert Downey Jr, who portrayed Iron Man in the earlier phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), is playing archvillain Victor von Doom (Doctor Doom) in Avengers: Doomsday. If you want to learn more about Doctor Doom without having to read the comics, there are many Marvel games out there that feature him. Here are four Doctor Doom games you should play to prepare yourself for the upcoming Marvel Studios film.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order expansion

Although the main story of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 is about Thanos trying to engulf the world in another peril, the Black Order expansion of the 2019 action role-playing game is centred on Doctor Doom and the Fantastic Four. In The Black Order’s story, Doctor Doom exiles the Marvel superheroes to the Negative Zone while he tries to become God Emperor of the world using the Soul Stone. Inside the Negative Zone, the exiled Marvel heroes meet the Fantastic Four and start planning their escape.

For those who don’t know him from the comics, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order serves as an important introduction to Doctor Doom. It also sheds some light on his relationship with the Fantastic Four. The game is developed by Team Ninja and published by Nintendo. It is available exclusively on Nintendo Switch.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

As the name suggests, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is a crossover fighting game featuring characters from Marvel and Capcom. It is a standalone updated version of Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds.

In this Marvel vs Capcom title, Victor von Doom partners with Albert Wesker from the Resident Evil franchise to make a team of villains and conquer both the Marvel and Capcom universes. The game showcases his special abilities and combat prowess.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes

Doctor Doom is one of the chief baddies in Lego Marvel Super Heroes, the 2013 action-adventure video game developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment

Lego Marvel Super Heroes was released for PS4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. It was also ported to Apple’s macOS by Feral Interactive.

Marvel Rivals

Doctor Doom is a prominent Marvel supervillain in the Marvel Rivals’ lore. A major event known as the “Timestream Entanglement” causes numerous timelines in the Marvel Universe to merge, creating new worlds where Marvel heroes and villains find themselves. In line with his desires, Doctor Doom plans to conquer these new worlds.

Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play 6v6 PvP fighting game developed by NetEase Games. It features a big roster of Marvel heroes and villains and is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store).

Avengers: Doomsday releases in theatres on December 18, 2026.
