Sushant Sreeram, India Country Director for Amazon's video streaming service Prime Video, is leaving the company after a six-year stint.
This departure comes two months after the exit of Aparna Purohit, Head of Originals, India and Southeast Asia, Prime Video.
Last month, Prime Video's head of Hindi originals, Nikhil Madhok, was promoted as the service's head of original content for the India market.
"I’ve witnessed our ambitions and relentless intensity not only set up the India business as one of the fastest growing in Prime Video globally, but also shape the streaming landscape of the country" Sreeram said in a LinkedIn post on July 31.
Sreeram joined Prime Video in 2018 as head of customer and brand marketing. He subsequently rose through the ranks and became the head of Subscription Video on Demand (SVOD) business in January 2023.
Sreeram was promoted as Prime Video's country director in April 2023, after Gaurav Gandhi was elevated as the vice president for the Asia Pacific market.
Prior to Prime Video, Sreeram led marketing for Xiaomi India for three years. He's also had stints at HolidayIQ, eBay, Inkfruit, and Hindustan Unilever.
"It’s been such a gratifying journey working on some of the most needle-moving initiatives across the shows & movies we launched, product innovations to deepen the immersive experience of Prime Video, and make Prime Video ubiquitously accessible across screens" Sreeram said.
In March 2024, Prime Video announced its biggest India content slate, that comprises about 69 new and returning original series, original and licensed films, most of which will launch over the next two years.
The slate includes 27 original series, 5 returning series, 8 original movies and 29 licensed films across Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada languages.
