The protestors demanded action against bike taxis and the implementation of a 'one city, one cab rate' policy.

Auto and cab drivers staged a massive protest and besieged the Transport Department office in Shanti Nagar, Bengaluru, on July 4, demanding action against bike taxis.

The protestors demanded action against bike taxis and the implementation of a 'one city, one cab rate' policy.

Following this protest, the Karnataka transport department issued an order to conduct a special enforcement drive against bike taxis.
In March 2024, following protests by auto-rickshaw unions in Bengaluru, the Karnataka government withdrew the Electric Bike Taxi Scheme, which was launched in 2021.

A notification issued by the state transport department on March 6 cited concerns about private app-based organizations using non-transport two-wheelers (white board vehicles) in violation of the Motor Vehicles Act.
