The protestors demanded action against bike taxis and the implementation of a 'one city, one cab rate' policy.
Following this protest, the Karnataka transport department issued an order to conduct a special enforcement drive against bike taxis.
In March 2024, following protests by auto-rickshaw unions in Bengaluru, the Karnataka government withdrew the Electric Bike Taxi Scheme, which was launched in 2021.
A notification issued by the state transport department on March 6 cited concerns about private app-based organizations using non-transport two-wheelers (white board vehicles) in violation of the Motor Vehicles Act.
