Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday spoke on phone to the para athletes who won medals in the Paris Paralympics and appreciated their efforts. According to officials, the PM spoke to Mona Aggarwal, Preeti Pal, Manish Narwal and Rubina Francis during this period.
During this, PM Modi congratulated each of the medal winners and said that they have made the country proud with their performance. Officials said Modi wished Avani Lekhara all the best for her upcoming competitions. It is known that Avani could not talk to the Prime Minister on phone because she was participating in another competition.
India has so far won five medals in the Paris Paralympics, including one gold medal. Avani Lekhara had won the gold medal for India in the women's 10 meter air rifle standing SH1 event, while Mona had won the bronze in the same event. At the same time, Manish Narwal won the silver medal in the men's 10 meter air pistol SH1 event. Apart from this, Preeti Pal won the bronze medal in the women's 100 meter T35 event and Rubina Francis won the bronze medal in the women's 10 meter air pistol SH1.
