Lucknow Super Giants' Mayank Yadav is the Player of the Match for his three-wicket haul on IPL debut. "Couldn't have been a better debut... I had heard one can get nervous on debut, but once the first ball was bowled, the nervousness melted away," Mayank said in Hindi.

LSG have won Match 11 of IPL 2024 by 21 runs. With this, Lucknow Super Giants have won 86.7 percent of the matches where they've batted first. LSG's win also firms up a trend that has been developing this IPL season: of teams winning on their home ground.

Shikhar Dhawan praised Mayank Yadav, who made his IPL debut with the Lucknow Super Giants today. Yadav bowled 140-150 plus kmph and took three key wickets. Yadav's bowling figures on IPL debut: 3/27 at an economy of 6.75. His fastest wicket of the night: 155.8 kmph.

With a CRR: 8.65 at this stage, Liam Livingstone and Shashank Singh have a Herculean task ahead.

Shashank made his IPL debut in 2022, but didn't bat in the 2023 season. This is his 13th IPL match, and he's yet to score more than 25 in a match.

Livingstone made his IPL debut in 2019. He can be a big scorer (highest IPL score: 94), but his average strike rate of just over 160 may not cut it in this match.

Jonny Bairstow had a cracking debut in the Indian Premier League in 2019. The right-handed opener smashed 445 runs in 10 matches, including a hundred and two fifties, for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Bairstow formed a good pair with David Warner. The duo scored 1,401 runs for the Sunrisers for two years before the England international moved to Punjab Kings for Rs 6.75 crore. The 34-year-old played 11 matches for Punjab in 2022 and scored 253 runs. Bairstow registered two half-centuries, including a wild knock of 66 off 29 against Royal Challengers Bangalore, a massive highlight of his calibre in the format. With over 4,500 runs in T20s across domestic and franchise cricket, Bairstow is a veteran of the T20 genre with a strike-rate of 137.24. He bats at 142.65 strike-rate in the IPL. The Englishman scored his maiden ton in the league against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He almost got another in 2020 against Punjab but was dismissed for 97 off 55 balls. England's ODI World Cup hero from 2019 is available for the whole IPL season. He had returned home after the long Test series in India. He will land in India by March 19 before Punjab's first match against Delhi Capitals this season.Besides franchise and domestic cricket, Bairstow has ten fifties for England in T20Is with a best score of 90 off 53 balls. He was expected stitch a partnership with Shikhar Dhawan on top of the order even before the match began.

For comparison, LSG took six over to get to their 50 - at the end of the powerplay overs, Lucknow Super Giants were 54/2.

Ekana has typically rewarded the Lucknow Super Giants when they've batted first. But dew is a factor in evening matches; and there's a bit of grass on the pitch that could give the Punjab Kings bowlers something to go on.

Lucknow Super Giants will need Pooran to reprise that innings. And what an innings that was, with the ball flying 80-90 meters for four sixes.

Harshal Patel was making Rs 20 lakh in IPL 2018. After a stunning 2021 season in which he took 32 wickets, his salary went up to Rs 10.75 crore in IPL 2022. Punjab paid Rs 11.75 crore for the player in the Dubai auction. The reason most likely is his T20I bowling figures of 111 wickets in 91 matches.

Harshal Patel solve Punjab Kings' death overs issue?

Punjab acquired death overs specialist Harshal Patel for Rs 11.75 crore in the IPL Auction in Dubai in 2023. Patel was the top wicket-taker in 2021, with 32 wickets in 15 innings. The right-arm medium pacer also picked up a five-for in the 2021 edition of the IPL against the Mumbai Indians.

The English cricket board pulled Mark Wood out even before the 17th IPL began. Now the Lucknow Super Giants have lost David Willey for the entire tournament too. LSG are replacing Willey with Matt Henry, whom they've signed for Rs 1.25 crore.

With 131 T20s under his belt, Henry has taken 151 wickets.
