IND vs ENG Highlights 3rd Test Day 2: KL Rahul's unbeaten 53 take India to 145-3 at Stumps, trail by 242

July 12, 2025· 15:22 IST

IND vs ENG Highlights 3rd Test Day 2: It was mixed day for both the sides as India finished at 145/3, trailing by 242 runs at Stumps on Day 2 of the Lord's Test. KL Rahul returned unbeaten on 53 and is joined by Rishabh Pant, who scored 19. Earlier, India lost Yashasvi Jaiswal cheaply for 13, who was dismissed by Jofra Archer playing his first Test in over four years. Rahul along with Karun Nair helped India stabalise after the early blow and added 61 runs for the second wicket. Nair departed for 40 against Ben Stokes, courtesy to a stunning effort by Joe Root at slips. Shubman Gill was caught-behind for 16 against Chris Woakes.

India vs England Live Score 3rd Test Day 3: KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant in focus

ℹ️MATCH UPDATE

The over rate has been slow, and despite the extra half hour being used on both days, only 83 overs were bowled on Day 1 and 72.3 on Day 2. Frequent ball changes, with the Dukes repeatedly going soft, have caused multiple interruptions. Rahul will be central to India’s hopes of narrowing the deficit, while England will look to Archer and Co. to exploit the morning conditions. All in all, we have an intriguing day in prospect. Stick around!

ℹ️MATCH UPDATE

As for India, after the early inroads created by Jasprit Bumrah, it looked like they might be able to restrict England to around 320. However, the dropped catch of Jamie Smith when he was on 5 proved costly. In reply, KL Rahul held firm at one end and saw out the day with Rishabh Pant, who showed great grit while batting through the pain of an injured left hand.

ℹ️MATCH UPDATE

England had a shaky start to Day 2, slipping to 271/7, but the lower order bailed them out of trouble. The last three wickets added 116 valuable runs, with fifties from Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse lifting the total to 387. Jofra Archer set the tone with the ball, and England struck at key moments, including the prized wicket of Shubman Gill, just as partnerships threatened to develop.

ℹ️MATCH UPDATE

Day 2 at Lord’s was special for several reasons. It was Red for Ruth Day, with the iconic venue draped in red in support of the Ruth Strauss Foundation. This Test was billed as the return of two champion pacers, Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer, and both delivered. Archer bowled with serious pace and struck with his third ball on return. Bumrah, meanwhile, produced the much-anticipated performance at Lord’s that earned him a place on the honours board. Joe Root, with his 37th Test hundred, climbed to fifth on the all-time centuries list. Later in the day, he went past Rahul Dravid’s tally to become the fielder with the most catches in Test cricket, claiming his 211th.

ℹ️MATCH UPDATE

Hello, one and all! The moving day dawns at the Home of Cricket, and given how tightly contested the first two days have been, today promises to be no different. Which camp would you rather be in at the moment? It has to be England. They posted a sizable first-innings total and followed it up by picking up three wickets. Scoring has been tough given the sluggish nature of the surface, and with 242 runs still needed to catch up with the hosts, India have it all to do.

ℹ️MATCH UPDATE

... DAY 3, SESSION 1 ...

July 12, 2025· 00:08 IST

ℹ️MATCH UPDATE

Two absorbing days of Test cricket have seen both teams trading blows. There was plenty of talk on the opening day about the pitch being on the slower side and the edges not carrying. But come the morning of Day 2, the surface had noticeably quickened up. It remains to be seen how it behaves on Day 3, but even with the older ball, there has been enough on offer to keep the pacers interested. Undoubtedly, KL Rahul will hold the key for India, and they will be hoping he can replicate his 2021 heroics at Lord’s, where he scored a ton. As for England, after a good night’s rest, their pacers will be raring to go and will look to exploit the morning conditions. Saturday, 12th July will be Day 3 of this Lord's Test, with the first ball to be bowled at 3.30 pm IST (10 am GMT). As always, we will be here nice and early for the build-up. Until then, take care and goodbye!

July 12, 2025· 00:08 IST

ℹ️MATCH UPDATE

Nair got off to a decent start, as did Shubman Gill but neither could kick on. Chris Woakes, who looked off-colour in his opening spell, returned to the attack and the move to bring Jamie Smith up to the stumps for the Indian skipper worked wonders for the hosts. Rishabh Pant walked in with an injured left index finger and managed to find boundaries against Shoaib Bashir, though he was visibly in discomfort at times. KL Rahul, meanwhile, continued to look solid at the other end, and the duo ensured there was no further damage before stumps.

July 12, 2025· 00:08 IST

ℹ️MATCH UPDATE

While Smith couldn’t carry on for long after lunch, Carse continued to frustrate the Indians and went on to register his maiden Test fifty. His dismissal eventually brought the curtains down on England’s innings at 387, with Bumrah claiming his first five-wicket haul at Lord’s. Jofra Archer struck with his third ball on Test return and breathed fire in his opening spell. However, KL Rahul and Karun Nair managed to weather that early storm.

July 12, 2025· 00:08 IST

ℹ️MATCH UPDATE

Day 2 kicked off with high drama. Joe Root, stranded overnight on 99, reached his century with the first ball of the morning but fell soon after. Jasprit Bumrah then produced a fiery three-wicket burst to reduce England to 271/7. The English lower order then staged a spirited fightback. Jamie Smith, dropped on 5, made India pay with another fluent fifty and found solid support from Brydon Carse. Shubman Gill and Co. were visibly unhappy with the changed ball, which they felt was not new enough, and the emotions clearly got to them.

ℹ️MATCH UPDATE

SESSION SUMMARY - 29 overs, 101 runs and 2 wickets. Another slowish day in terms of scoring, where the batters were made to grind hard for their runs, but it was still a captivating day of Test cricket. It was a good day at the office for England, but not so much for India, who have plenty of ground to cover. Ben Stokes and his men will be pleased to have seen the back of Shubman Gill, while the tourists will need a strong response on Day 3.
