Scientists have uncovered chemical traces buried deep within Earth that may be remnants of the planet’s earliest form, known as “proto-Earth.” The discovery implies that the rocks are holding remnant of the original composition of the earth. The finding can redefine the history of the planetary formation.

Scientists have found traces of ancient material on earth several miles underground. These imprints are older than when the Moon experienced a violent formation. Geologists used volcanic rock answers in Greenland, Canada and Hawaii.

They observed peculiar distribution of potassium isotopes, which were not visible in any meteorites. This type of exceptionally rare material is the result of billions of years of recycling.

Very keen, the team applied accurate geochemical instruments by examining isotopic discrepancies. They identified a pioneering potassium-40 face that was absent in recent rock chronicles. The lack of this isotope has indicated very primitive mantle rocks below continents.

Scientists refer to this deep reservoir as a time capsule of planet formation. These outcroppings have existed through extreme geologic interactions since the formation of the earth.

The study suggests that there are areas of the mantle that were undisturbed in a period of more than four billion years. Such preservation dilemmas pose a challenge to the existing models of mantle convection and crustal recycling.

The find alters the theory concerning the destructive effect of the Moon-forming impact. Provided that ancient material remained, the structure of the Earth would be much more resilient. It can provide information about the way in which planets differentiate and stabilise internally.

Geologists have come to believe that meteorite samples of the building blocks of the Earth are not present. Remnants of the missing apparatus of our solar system may be found in proto-Earth material. Its exceptional chemistry may improve models of the earlier stages of accretion on planets.

Deeper sampling of the volcanic hotspots in various continents is planned by the researchers. The next generation of explorations would survey concealed mantle deposits that hold the early planetary memory. Every novelty takes mankind a step closer to elucidating the extraordinary cosmogenic origins of the earth.
