Bhadrapada Purnima, falling in the Hindu month of Bhadrapada, is one of the most revered days for worshipping Lord Vishnu and the Moon deity. Purnima, or full moon day, is considered a powerful time for manifesting desires and letting go of past emotions to make a fresh start. The day is believed to be sacred for performing rituals that cleanse the mind and soul, renewing one's spiritual journey. Falling on September 17, 2024, this full moon day holds spiritual importance, with devotees observing fasts and performing rituals to seek blessings.

• Morning Rituals: Begin the day with a holy bath to purify your body and mind.
• Sankalp: Take a vow (sankalp) to observe the Satyanarayan fast, which is central to the day’s worship.
• House and Puja Room Cleaning: Clean your home, especially the area where you’ll set up the altar for worship.
• Setting the Altar: Place an idol of Lord Satyanarayan and Shree Yantra, symbolising Goddess Laxmi. Adorn the idol with a garland of yellow flowers and offer sweets, along with Tulsi (Basil) leaves, as the puja is considered incomplete without them.
• Lighting the Diya: Light a lamp using desi ghee and chant mantras dedicated to Lord Vishnu to invoke His blessings. Place a kalash (water vessel) in front of the idol as part of the offering.
• Recitation of the Satyanarayan Vrat Katha: This holy story should be recited before sunset as part of the day's worship.
• Bhog Offering: Prepare a traditional prasad of Panchamrit (a mixture of milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sugar) and Panjeeri (roasted wheat flour mixed with sugar and banana pieces). Offer these to the deity as part of the ritual.
• Chanting Aarti: Perform the Aarti.
• Moon Worship: After completing the puja for Lord Vishnu, offer the kalash water to the Moon deity and chant mantras in His honour.
• Prasad Distribution: Once the rituals are done, distribute the prasad to family members and others present.

Begin the fast with a pure heart and mind, focusing on devotion to Lord Vishnu.

Clean the area of worship properly before setting up the altar.

Offer Tulsi leaves to Lord Vishnu as they are essential in the puja.

Recite the Satyanarayan Katha with sincerity and focus.

Avoid consuming food or water during the fast until the puja rituals are complete.

Don’t use garlic, onions, or any tamasic (heavy) foods during the preparation of prasad.

Do not skip offering bhog and Tulsi leaves during the puja, as it is considered incomplete without these offerings.
