This aid is particularly critical as Lebanon faces a devastating humanitarian crisis, with over a million people displaced from their homes.

The United States has announced nearly $157 million in new humanitarian assistance to aid populations affected by conflict in Lebanon and the surrounding region, as stated by the State Department. This funding is designed to meet both new and ongoing needs of internally displaced persons and refugees within Lebanon, as well as support host communities and individuals fleeing to neighboring Syria.

"This funding will address new and existing needs of internally displaced persons and refugee populations inside Lebanon and the communities that host them. The assistance will also support those fleeing to neighboring Syria," the State Department said.

The assistance package includes approximately $82 million from the Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration and an additional $75 million from the United States Agency for International Development’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance.
