Netanyahu says Iran proxies tried to 'assassinate' him and wife

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a warning to Hezbollah, saying that any attempt to attack Israeli civilians would result in a "heavy price" and that the organization's purported attempt to kill him and his wife was a "grave mistake".

A drone was observed being launched towards Netanyahu's home in the Israeli town of Caesarea, prompting him to issue a warning.

Netanyahu called Hezbollah "Iran's proxy" in a post on X on Saturday, adding that neither he nor Israel would be deterred from waging war on the nation's adversaries in the wake of the assassination attempt, reports AFP

"The attempt by Iran's proxy Hezbollah to assassinate me and my wife today was a grave mistake. This will not deter me or the State of Israel from continuing our just war against our enemies in order to secure our future," Mr Netanyahu wrote.

The prime minister added that Israel is committed to achieving its war goals and "changing the security reality in our region for generations," issuing a warning to Iran and the "Axis of Resistance," which includes Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis of Yemen.

"I say to Iran and its proxies in its axis of evil: Anyone who tries to harm Israel's citizens will pay a heavy price; We will continue to eliminate the terrorists and those who dispatch them; We will bring our hostages home from Gaza; And we will return our citizens who live on our Northern border safely to their homes. Israel is determined to achieve all our war objectives and change the security reality in our region for generations to come," he warned.

One day after Hamas reported that its leader, Yahya Sinwar, had been killed in an Israeli attack in Gaza, a drone was launched at Netanyahu's home on Saturday.

An unmanned aerial vehicle, or UAV, was fired in the direction of the Caesarea mansion of the prime minister. There were no injuries sustained in the event, and neither the prime minister nor his spouse were present at the scene, according to a statement from Netanyahu's office.

Three drones were shot from Lebanon on Saturday, according to the Israeli military, and two of them were intercepted.
