Xiaomi’s successful run in the Indian smartphone continues as Redmi has reported sales of over 2 million of its budget smartphones Redmi Note 7 and Note 7 Pro that were launched in February earlier this year.

Last month, the company announced that both these smartphones recorded over a million units in sales within the first month of their launch. For celebrating the feat, Xiaomi has teased a new smartphone with a 48MP primary camera.

The Redmi Note 7 and Note 7 Pro were launched on February 28 in India and have been running off the shelves since then. The smartphones which were only available through flash sales have proven to be a hit amongst consumers looking for a budget smartphone.

Looking at its popularity, Redmi decided to keep the Note 7 on open sale in April. The Redmi Note 7 Pro is, however, still available through flash sales.

On account of the milestone, Xiaomi India MD Manu Kumar Jain has teased a smartphone with 48MP ‘for everyone’. This could possibly mean that the company could launch the much-rumoured Mi A3 with a 48MP primary sensor.

Xiaomi recently teased a smartphone with three cameras at the back. Prior to this, Jain also teased a Xiaomi phone with the latest Qualcomm’s 7 series chipset. Qualcomm recently announced the Snapdragon 730 mid-range processor which could make its way to the upcoming Mi smartphone.

There have been a bunch of reports speculating the specifications of Mi A3 in India. The Mi 9x in China is rumoured to launch in India as Mi A3. It could sport a 6.4-inch AMOLED Full HD+ screen with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and water-drop notch on top.

The Mi A3 could come with an in-display fingerprint scanner as reported previously. The Android One device could run on a Snapdragon 710 or 730. Based on Xiaomi’s recent teaser, rumours about the Mi 9x coming to India as Mi A3 further strengthens with the former having a triple camera setup. The Mi 9x is rumoured to have a 48MP primary sensor with a 13MP ultra-wide angle lens and an 8MP lens. The front camera would include a 32MP sensor with face unlock support.

The Mi A3 is expected to come with an average-sized 3,300 mAh battery and 18W Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging support. The device is rumoured to boot on Android One based on Android 9.0 out of the box.
