Energy shortages reduce further

India did not experience any heat wave conditions for the third day running, improving the country’s power situation.

The rainfall deficit narrowed further to 13.8% from 14.5%, as per data released by the Indian Meteorological Department.

Kharif sowing was up 33% on June 28, compared with the previous year, with pulses sowing up 181%, paddy largely unchanged and 150% higher acreage under oilseeds.

Power data indicates India faced an energy shortage of 1 million units on June 27 compared with 3.3 million units the previous day. Bihar continued to face the highest energy shortage.
