A grey langur had taken over the office of a railway officer in West Bengal, although briefly. Officials spotted the money sitting on the chair and typing away at the computer on the desk.
The clip appeared to have been recorded at the enquiry office at Bolpur station; Moneycontrol could not independently verify it. In it, the officials are also heard talking and laughing among themselves. "Remove it from here," one official is heard telling another. "How will I remove it? What if it slaps me?" the latter responds, making others laugh.
The video has received more than 4600 views, and reacting to it video, a Facebook user commented, "New equipment stationmaster."
In a similar incident of monkey menance, last year, the police in Rajasthan told a local court that key pieces of evidence in a murder trial had gone missing thanks to langurs. The evidence, including the murder weapon, was kept under a tree at the police station since the evidence room had no space when monkeys ran away with it, the police said.
Jaipur Police blamed the loss of evidence on the carelessness of one cop who was posted at the evidence room. They added the constable later retired and died.
Earlier this year, even Union Minister Kiren Rijiju shared a clip showing- three monkeys scrolling down a smartphone while a man held it in what appears to be a jungle. On of the smaller monkeys even appeared to hold the device as humans do, and all three of them seemed hooked on to it.
